One of our favourite typewriters, the vintage Adler Tippa, is a sleek retro model perfect for any writer on the go!
Originally developed by the German company Gossen, in the early 1950s, the Tippa typewriters were always a sleek and stylish machine, designed as an "office in a briefcase", with compartments for stationery and other small office supplies, making it a practical tool for professionals on the move. It was also very popular for travel writers and journalists, as it was one of the first ultra-portable typewriters on the market.
After Adler merged with Triumph typewriters in 1957, the manufacturing licence was shortly there-after sold to Nakajima typewriters in Japan.
This model, made in Holland in 1972 with the serial number 5425232, measures 30cm x 30cm x 8cm. It features an off-white plastic casing with cream coloured keys.
The typewriter is in excellent condition, with no blemishes or marks. It's been professionally cleaned, adjusted, serviced and supplied with a new ribbon.
Adler also made really cool cars!
